This device used for pain relief, to improve flexibility, and strengthen core muscle groups. Most people are familiar with the term “core” muscle but rarely know what that term means. Majority of the time the core muscles are strong enough, but they just are not firing properly. When the spine is injured, certain muscles will contract to protect the rest of the spine. In time the spine may heal, but this protective muscle-firing pattern will continue.
This type of therapy is designed to correct these protective-firing patterns. The initial goal is for immediate and lasting pain reduction for the patient while stabilizing large global muscles of the body. When this stabilization occurs, the Central Nervous System (CNS) now has better communication with the core-muscle groups for support and protection of the spine.

The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by applying a controlled force into joints that are not moving correctly or restricted in their movement, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness to allow the tissues to heal. Contrary to popular belief, spinal adjustments/manipulations are not painful. Chiropractors are trained as experts in the spine. They do not merely “pop” or “crack” bones until something “snaps” back into place.
Just as lasers have replaced scalpels in some surgeries, advanced technology has become available to chiropractic to assist in delivering chiropractic adjustments. We have incorporated the Impulse Adjusting Instrument to assist in care of our patients. This patented and FDA registered device is specifically used to deliver a gentle and precise chiropractic adjustment to the joints of the spine and extremities to relieve pain and restore function.
Impulse instrument adjustments are high tech where no popping or cracking will be heard, but rather very precise and targeted adjustments are delivered to specific areas of the spine.
High Power Laser Therapy (HPLT) offers patients a painless, non-surgical and side effect free treatment for conditions previously refractive to traditional medical care. Conditions such as peripheral neuropathy, head, neck and back pain (stenosis, disc herniations and sciatica), arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, foot and heel pain, ligament and tendon injuries, muscle bruising, and even non-healing wounds, to name a few, all respond well to HPLT. HPLT also accelerates wound healing and is an excellent adjunct to accelerating healing post surgically as it can significantly reduce recovery time over traditional therapies available today. Patients who have undergone joint replacement can cut the rehab process by as much as 50% and more. Their pain and discomfort will quickly be controlled and the need for dangerous narcotics can be eliminated within a few treatments.
Massage therapy relieves tension that builds up in the body and muscles. It is used for relaxation and healing of the soft tissue due to stress and muscle tightness. Massage may release your body’s natural painkillers and boost your immune system. In addition, this type of therapy relieves stress, encourages relaxation, improves circulation, decreases pain, relaxes muscles, and improves flexibility.

The excruciating pain from spinal discs can make a person be in agony and feel helpless. The pain can be constant with everything making the pain worse. Between each spinal bone (vertebra) is a very strong cartilage called intervertebral disc. These discs can be injured due to trauma or just to a person’s lifestyle. In addition, this cartilage will slowly “wear out” or degenerate with age (this process can start in our mid 20’s).
Chiropractic treatment for these types of conditions restores proper motion between the disc and vertebra to slow this “wearing out” or degeneration process down as well as decreasing the pain and inflammation. Dr. Andersen has been specializing in treatment of these types of conditions since 2001.
Nine out of ten Americans suffer from headaches and is one of the most common conditions seen in chiropractic offices. Over the last decade, headaches represent 13% of chiropractic patient’s presenting complaints. Headaches not only have a significant adverse impact on adults but “frequent or severe headaches including migraine in the past 12 months were reported in 17.1% of children.”
Chiropractic care is conservative safe and effective low back treatment to reduce pain, decrease medication and increase overall function. In fact, after an extensive study of all currently available care for low back problems, the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research—a federal government research organization—recommended that low back pain sufferers choose the most conservative care first. And it recommended spinal manipulation as the only safe and effective, drugless form of initial professional treatment for acute low back problems in adults.
The neck’s susceptibility to injury is due in part to biomechanics. Activities and events that affect cervical biomechanics include extended sitting, repetitive movement, accidents, falls and blows to the body or head, normal aging, and everyday wear and tear. Neck pain can be very bothersome, and it can have a variety of causes.
Just like lower back, there are many causes of neck pain. Following an examination, Dr. Ken Andersen will determine the best course of action that may include specific spinal adjustments, physiotherapy, and cervical stretching/strengthening exercises. Dr. Ken Andersen, our Sandy Chiropractor has been successfully treating neck pain since 2001. Click below to request a Free Consultation!
